Elven Bowmen
The bow is the traditional weapon of the Elves, and they train in its use from a young age, male and female, lowborn and noble alike. Such is their skill and natural aptitude that even the greatest human bowman could never hope to compare with the humblest of Elven archers. Indeed, the Elves approach archery as they do all the pursuits they deem worthy of their attention, treating it is an art form. Seemingly without aiming, they are able to loose unerringly accurate arrows at a prodigious rate, even when racing at speed through their shadowy forested realms. Many incursions into the Elven realms are stalled by their highly accurate bowfire, and often these would-be invaders never even glimpse the Elves before they are cut down.
On the field of battle, Elven archers are the bane of their enemies, able to punish their foes from afar with relentless waves of arrows that darken the sky. No Elf King of merit would ever deign to march to war without his archers at his side. Only the most heavily armoured warriors are able to weather their fire, and only the most foolish or suicidal would willingly advance through it. Often, an enemy army will quit the field, their ranks decimated by accurate bowfire, long before they have had a chance to close the distance and engage the Elves in hand-to-hand combat.
Elven Bows
Elven bows are priceless weapons of beauty and deadly precision. Light, delicate and easily drawn, they are far superior in every regard to those made by human hand; more powerful, more accurate and with a greater killing range. Many are carved with swirling, arcane patterns and Elven runes of power, potent magicks bound within them. Such is their power that not even the heaviest plate armour can protect against arrows loosed at close range.
