Getting Started

With Kings of War, taking your first steps into the world tabletop wargaming has never been easier!

Collect a Force

Our range of fantasy gaming miniatures is always growing, and is all available to order through this website - just navigate to the "Shop" link at the top of this page. The Kings of War rule system is designed to work around the products that are available, so each box of miniatures (usually!) forms a single unit on the battlefield. However, there's no need to buy your army one unit at a time! It's a lot easier (and more cost-effective) to pick up one of our Battle Sets!

The Two Player Battle Set gives you a starter-sized Undead force and Orc force – you could split the cost with a friend and get a starter army each, or (thanks to the Allies rules in Kings of War) you could put both sets together to make a single force!

If you'd like to try one of our other armies, why not look at a One Player Battle Set? These each contain a few units for your army, letting you put a gaming force together in no time.

Play the Game

If you’ve already got a fantasy gaming army (from Mantic, or Games Workshop, or anywhere else!) you can head over to the Downloads section of the Kings of War hub and download the rules for free. You’ll find the 32-page rulebook as a PDF file, which includes starter force lists for four armies (Dwarves, Elves, Orcs and Undead). From the same page, you can also download the full force lists for each of our current armies! These lists give you the rules for each unit in your army, plus their points costs and options that will come into play when you start picking your gaming force.

If you want to really dive into the world of Kings of War, the hardback rulebook is ideal. Within its pages you will find a history of the world of Mantica, telling the tale of how the various races came to be.  A big aspect of wargaming is the narrative element, and those hours spent building and painting your miniatures are a lot more enjoyable if you know the story behind your army. The rulebook also contains the full game rules, plus additional rules for campaigns, sieges and special terrain features.

What's more, the book features full force lists for eight of our races - Dwarfs, Elves, Kingdoms of Men, Undead, Orcs, Goblins, Twilight Kin and Abyssal Dwarfs. If you want to play with any of these armies, it's just a case of picking up this book - you'll have everything you need in one place!
