Yesterday, I got my hands on one of the new DreadBall Ultimate boxes that was being assembled in the warehouse, and I had a good look through the contents! All very exciting, but I left one thing out – the Giants. These new MVPs are a big addition (chortle) to Season 3, and I thought they deserved a post to themselves! Let’s see what we can see…
Adapted from a combat walker using experimental A.I. technology, the player known only as Big Mech is an unstoppable juggernaut in the arena – with an ego to match!
The casting is really crisp, and after a quick dry-fit it’s obvious that the components go together really easily. Note the separate DreadBall glove component… Hmm, it wouldn’t take a *lot* of work to turn this into a Corporation Strider… 😉
The creature known as the Nameless Spawn is the ultimate defence against enemy Strikers, an absolute monster of a Guard with almost as many kills as he has tentacles!
I can’t wait to paint one of these – he’s an absolute beast in the game!
Barricade was built for one thing – clearance – and he does it very well indeed! Even the most formidable defence can’t hope to stand against his relentless advance.
We did some experimenting with components and blu-tac, and have come to the conclusion that Barricade’s upper half on Big Mech’s legs would look awesome.
It’s hard to imagine how something as big as Alpha Simian could move so fast. He’s an apex predator, a beast who puts his natural ferocity to great use in the arena.
The components on the Giant kits plug together really easily, with nice chunky pegs to make sure they fit – it really won’t take any effort at all to get them assembled.
One thing that’s worth mentioning is that the mould lines on these models are barely noticeable. We’ve been making some improvements, and it really shows!
So there we go! Let us know what you think of the Giants in the comments below, and don’t forget that you can order your very own copy of DreadBall Ultimate from the Mantic webstore.
