With less than two months remaining in the current Halo: Flashpoint Ranked Season, players around the world are battling for every point, every placing, and every opportunity to climb the rankings before the season comes to a close. From local game stores hosting their first events to major tournaments attracting record attendance, organised play has never been stronger.

Bigger Events, More Players, More Competition

Over the past season we’ve seen Organised Play continue to grow across the globe, doubling our number of ranked players on the Index! Communities are forming in local stores, new organisers are stepping forward to run events, and attendance numbers continue to rise as more players enter the battlefield.

What makes Halo: Flashpoint special is that organised play isn’t reserved for elite competitors. While the rankings system rewards performance, the community itself remains incredibly welcoming. Many players attend their first event with little or no tournament experience, only to discover a relaxed atmosphere full of fellow Halo fans eager to roll dice, share tactics, and enjoy a day of gaming.

In fact, one of the biggest surprises for many new players is just how approachable the competitive scene really is.

You’ll find experienced players helping newcomers learn scenarios, explaining rules interactions, and offering advice between games. Everyone wants to win, of course, but the focus is just as much on building the community as it is on climbing the rankings.

The Final Push for Season Rankings

With the season entering its final stretch, every event matters.

Players chasing regional bragging rights, national rankings, and global positions are looking for every opportunity to earn points before the season closes. A strong finish over the next few weeks could mean the difference between a respectable ranking and a place among the world’s best.

The current World Number 1 has spent months defending their position against challengers from across the globe, but the closing weeks of a season can produce dramatic swings. One major tournament victory, a series of strong performances, or a breakthrough result from any of the top 10 players could completely reshape the standings.

That’s what makes this period so exciting.

Every tournament becomes must-watch. Every result has consequences. Every player has the chance to make their mark on Halo: Flashpoint history.

Will the champion hold on, or will a new contender rise before the season comes to an end?

Only time will tell.

Version 1.5 Is Live and Better Than Ever

If you’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to jump into organised play, this is it.

Version 1.5 is now fully live online, bringing the latest evolution of Halo: Flashpoint alongside a comprehensive balance update designed to keep the game fresh, competitive, and fun for everyone. (Note: the new physical rulebook pack, updated Spartan Edition starter set, and card update pack all ship as part of the Zeta Halo releases wave from 14th September.)

Whether you’re a long-time veteran or someone returning after a break, there has never been a better opportunity to get games in, try new fireteams, experiment with different tactics, and experience the game at its best.

That creates the perfect environment for new players to enter organised play. There are fewer established expectations, more experimentation, and plenty of opportunities to surprise your opponents.

Thinking About Running Your Own Event?

You don’t need to wait for someone else to organise the next tournament.

One of the biggest reasons organised play has grown so quickly is because passionate players and local communities have taken the initiative to run events themselves.

Whether it’s a casual one-day tournament, a demo night, or a larger competitive event, every organised play activity helps grow the community and gives players more opportunities to get involved.

Introducing Battlegrounds

Alongside organised play, we’re introducing Battlegrounds, our store play recognition programme designed to celebrate the incredible stores and communities that help Halo: Flashpoint thrive.

Battlegrounds rewards players for participating in organised play at registered stores while giving retailers the tools to showcase their communities and events.

When you play at a Battlegrounds location, you’ll earn additional opportunities to contribute towards your ranking journey while supporting the stores that make organised play possible.  The bigger the event, the bigger the reward is to you for attending.

Participating stores can create their own presence on the Halo: Flashpoint Index, giving players an easy way to discover local events, learn about store activities, and connect with nearby communities. Running weekly gaming sessions? Hosting learn to play events? Organising major tournaments? Battlegrounds give stores a platform to highlight everything they do.

The Race for the Top Battleground Begins

While players are competing for personal glory, stores now have a competition of their own. As more Battlegrounds locations join the programme, communities aren’t just helping individual players climb the rankings. They’re helping their local store build its reputation within the wider Halo: Flashpoint community.

Over the course of the upcoming season, stores will accumulate their own recognition through participation, activity, and community engagement. At the end of the next season, we’ll be looking to crown our very first Battleground Champion.

“There are places beyond the edge of known space where even the most hardened Pathfinder captains refuse to travel. Not because the routes are dangerous, not because of pirates. Not even because of the GCPS. Sometimes ships go missing, and occasionally they come back.”

The Warpath Universe is a vast place.

For centuries, humanity and its allies have expanded across the galaxy, pushing further into unexplored regions, discovering new worlds, establishing colonies, and uncovering the remnants of long-forgotten civilisations. Entire wars have been fought over territory, resources, and ideology. Empires have risen and fallen.

Yet for all that expansion, the truth remains unsettlingly simple – most of the galaxy is still unknown.

Beyond the trade routes and military patrols, beyond the prosperous worlds of the GCPS, there are entire sectors that remain uncharted. Regions where communication becomes unreliable and where expeditions disappear without explanation.

And increasingly, reports are emerging of something lurking within that darkness.

Something that has been watching.  Waiting for a weakness or moment to act.

Echoes From the Void

Across the galaxy, isolated incidents have been recorded.

A mining colony vanishes overnight.

A research station transmits a final, garbled distress signal before falling silent.

A survey vessel returns months after it was declared lost, its crew missing and its systems inexplicably changed.

Individually, these events are easy to dismiss but taken together, a disturbing pattern begins to emerge.

The same symbols.

The same biological anomalies.

The same impossible accounts from the few survivors who live long enough to tell their stories.

Most citizens of the GCPS will never hear these stories. The corporations have little interest in spreading panic and military authorities are quick to classify information. Frontier settlements are often too isolated to verify reports before they disappear into rumour and speculation.

Among explorers, scavengers, smugglers and deep-space crews, the stories persist.  Mercenaries whisper them around campfires on forgotten worlds and the details vary but the warning remains the same.

Stay away from the Curtain

Because something is there.

And it is no longer content to remain hidden.

Corporal Rikord took a cursory glance at the scanners for about the hundredth time that night and yawned. This wasn’t why she had joined the corps! She thought she would be on distant planets fighting hulking aliens whose only purpose was to wipe out the Galactic Co-Prosperity Sphere. She wanted to protect the homeworlds of the First Sphere with a laser rifle gripped in her hand.

Instead she had been assigned to help a bunch of boffins from the Exo-Threat Counteraction Unit (ECTU) on a tired space station in the arsehole of the galaxy. In fact, she couldn’t even remember the last time she had even shot a laser rifle. Rather than executing acts of heroism she was responsible for monitoring a bunch of scanners and read outs that she didn’t really understand. Even worse, as the newest recruit to the team, she was assigned to the night shift, which meant she didn’t even have anyone to speak to.

Despite her best efforts, she simply couldn’t care less about whatever ‘vital mission’ she had been given. A bunch of brainiacs on Outpost Megaladon had told her they were monitoring signals from beyond the Mariana Curtain – the impassable energy field that protected the Nameless sector – following a spate of increasingly larger attacks. In the past the Nameless had limited their activities to a few small aquaforming operations on no-name planets that most corporations didn’t even care about. Even the most high profile encounter on the planet Starfall had mostly fallen into distant memory. But for some reason the ‘squiddies’ – as she and her fellow troopers called them – were getting more agitated and aggressive, so the ECTU was increasing its monitoring operations. However, Rikord didn’t want to just watch, she wanted to be out there fighting the weird-looking squiddies.

Ignoring the scanners, she turned her attention to the highlights from that afternoon’s DreadBall All-Stars play-off game between the Painkillers and the Krakens. She rolled her eyes when she saw the Nameless player Deadeye slip past Nox and score a Strike. Rikord didn’t understand why the DreadBall Governing Body even let the Nameless play in the leagues. Surely if they were such a threat, shouldn’t they be exterminated rather than accepted? Then again, on the latest episode of Rho’s Realitycast, he said Nameless like Deadeye were actually drones created by the Council of Seven to normalise Nameless and make them less terrifying. That wouldn’t surprise her in the slightest. Rho was right that the Council couldn’t be trusted. Although she kept those sorts of thoughts to herself. She didn’t want people to think she was a Rebs sympathiser. 

Out of the corner of her eye Rikord noticed a red light flashing on one of the computer panels. She wheeled her chair over and gave it a tap.

“Hmm, it’s never done that before,” she muttered to herself.

To her right another light began to pulsate. Rikord looked at the monitors and was surprised to see sharp spikes shooting across one of the screens. Suddenly an alarm started to sound, causing an urgent klaxon to echo around the small room. She desperately cast her mind back to her briefing sessions to try and remember what she was meant to do in a situation like this. With her mind falling blank, she opened the drawer of a desk and started scrabbling around for the emergency manual. 

Coming up empty handed she looked at the monitors again and her stomach lurched. What appeared to be green lightning was shooting across the shimmering blue waves of the Mariana Curtain. The audio sensors pumped a loud crackling noise into the room which was so overwhelming that Rikord had to cover her ears. At the point where the lightning was originating, an inky chasm was growing wider and wider. Beyond the gaping hole Rikord could see nothing but darkness.

Thoughts of raising the alarm drifted away as Rikord was mesmerized by the strange light show on the screen. It was almost as if her mind was being dragged into the rift, like something was calling to her. Then – just as quickly as it had started – the lightning stopped, the warning lights went out and the alarm ceased its desperate cries. All that remained was the black hole in the glittering waves of the Curtain and an expectant silence in the room.

Rikord breathed a sigh of relief.

“Just a solar storm,” she said, mainly to comfort herself. “Probably happens all the time out here.”

Yet she couldn’t turn her gaze away from the gaping chasm. Was that normal? While she watched something shot out of the hole and raced beyond the view of the monitor. She glanced between the different screens but only caught glimpses as the object sped into space. It was quickly followed by another and another. Rikord wished she knew where that emergency manual was.

Her eyes now fixed on the monitor, Rikord watched in horror as the smaller craft were joined by gigantic tentacles that emerged from the breach and reached into the space beyond. Each must have been longer than a Wyvern class ship and appeared to cause the space around them to shift and warp unnaturally. The tentacles squirmed and writhed as they stretched beyond the edges of the screen – whatever it was creeping from beyond seemed impossibly large.

Suddenly the audio receptors erupted into a sickening screeching noise, accompanied by a peculiar mix of clicks and whistles. This was no Nameless incursion. This was an invasion! She needed to sound the alarm.

The darkness between the stars is vast and something is finally emerging from it –  Who can you trust?

Since launch at the end of 2024, Halo: Flashpoint has had an incredible journey already. And as we’re now on the verge of deploying Grunts, Jackals and Marines to tabletops around the world (shipping from 14th September and in stores later this month!), it’s bigger and more popular than ever.

But this time, we don’t want to talk about new releases, spectacular scenery, or who’s currently top of the rankings. (Don’t worry, we’ll be back to that soon enough. – Ed)

Instead, we want to shine a spotlight on the people who make Halo: Flashpoint what it is: you.

From passionate retailers and event organisers to dedicated players, painters and hobbyists, you’re building your local communities, running events, introducing your friends, and helping Halo: Flashpoint thrive around the world. Today, we’d like to celebrate just a handful of those stories.

A World of Halo Hobbyists & Gamers

From the UK to the US and now far beyond, we’ve seen fantastic communities form around local game stores, gaming clubs and organised play events (which you can run yourself using a handy kit)!

At stores like Outrider Games, local events are bringing together players of all experience levels to battle it out across the tabletop. Great hobby stores are more than just places to pick up the latest releases. They’re where gaming groups are forged, (friendly!) rivalries begin, and fun stories of brave/lucky strategies get talked about long after the final D8 has rolled…

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic at Dragon’s Lair, Halo: Flashpoint has become a regular fixture in the store, with a passionate local playerbase embracing everything from casual drop-in games to competitive events.

And over in Singapore, the team at HammerHouse and their local Pathfinders have helped establish a fast-growing community, hosting events, demo days and introducing lots of enthusiastic new players to the thrill of Halo combat on the tabletop. Fantastic job everyone!

No matter where in the world you are, it’s been amazing to watch new groups and club nights form around a shared love of Halo and tabletop gaming.

More Fantastic Stores Around the World

Another key ingredient of Halo: Flashpoint’s success is the amazing network of friendly local game stores visibly championing the game worldwide with cool displays and intro events.

Sometimes, it’s about creating hands-on ways to get involved and try the hobby for the first time. In Mexico, El Dragon Geek has welcomed hobbyists of all skill levels through Halo: Flashpoint Paint-and-Take events, giving both veteran painters and complete newcomers the chance to sit down, pick up a brush, and paint their very first Spartans.

Elsewhere, stores are helping bring the game to new regions and theri local gamers. In Spain, retailers such as La Escotilla have embraced the game and helped make it more accessible to local players, helping to introduce a whole new wave of hobbyists to the battlefields of Halo: Flashpoint.

From running demo games with local Mantic Pathfinders, creating incredible displays, to simply sharing their enthusiasm with curious customers, these stores are the beating heart of their communities. Don’t hesitate to head in-store to play some games at your local FLGS, and remember to bring your friends along!

Incredible Conventions & Events

The community hasn’t just been growing in stores and clubs – you’ll now find Halo: Flashpoint being played at conventions and major gaming events all around the world.

In Australia, the game has made a splash at events including CanCon and the Australian GT, where players have travelled from across the country to compete, meet fellow hobbyists and celebrate their shared love of Halo. (As you can see, our founder Ronnie was down there on his travels, and had a great time meeting you all!)

Meanwhile, in the United States, the Halo: Flashpoint Nationals raised the bar for competitive play, attracting talented fireteam commanders from across the country and showcasing just how exciting the game’s tournament scene is quickly becoming. (Quick shout out to organiser Troy, the Truth and Reconciliation crew, and Shea from Forging Flashpoint for streaming some of the games online.)

And then there’s perhaps one of the most surprising and fun achievements we’ve seen so far….

At Mega XP 2026 in Mexico, (organised by the passionate team at El Dragon Geek), the community established the world record for the largest simultaneous Halo: Flashpoint painting event, with an incredible 101 Spartans painted at the same time!

Who’s going to beat that? Come on everyone, because our good friends in Mexico have just laid down the (Mjolnir) gauntlet…the challenge is on.

Welcoming the Halo Cosplay Community

One of the other really exciting developments has been seeing Halo: Flashpoint embraced by the wider Halo fandom. At Games of War Studio in France, stunning Halo cosplay appearances at their Halo: Flashpoint event created a fantastic bridge between the tabletop hobby and the broader Halo community.

Over in New Zealand, Hobby Lords teamed up with miniature painters The Distant Veil and some super-talented local cosplayers to create awesome store events that celebrated the Halo Universe through a fantastic mix of painting, gaming, and their passion for costume and prop-making. They sent us this very, very cool photo that put a big smile on our face at HQ – that’s a big Spartan Laser!

And back here in the UK, the Master Chief himself dropped in for the grand opening of new hobby store Hemel Wargamers, lending some UNSC ‘star power’ to a fantastic first day for the town’s new community gaming hub earlier this year. Thanks to their store manager Thomas for sending this one in!

Wrapping Up

Whether organising events, teaching demo games, painting miniatures, running tournaments, stocking shelves, dressing up as your favourite character or simply rolling dice with friends on a Friday night, you’re helping make Halo: Flashpoint what it is today. We want to extend a genuine and very hearty thank you for being a big part of the game, community and journey.

Now the next mission beckons. We honestly believe this is the best sci-fi skirmish game and community in the world. With your help, we’d love to make it the biggest, too.
