It’s an exciting and busy time at Mantic, with Kings of War, Dungeon Saga and DreadBall all fighting for attention before Christmas.
The Kings of War: Uncharted Empires book is released direct to stores and our website this month. It contains all new background and nine force lists for the likes of Ratmen, Salamander and The Herd, should you have suitable miniatures to use in Kings of War.
Take-up of the new edition of Kings of War is unprecedented, and there’s news that major US tournaments are taking up the system as their fantasy battle system of choice.
“The South region (Texas/Arkansas/Louisania) TOs got together this weekend with some TOs from the southeast and Midwest to discuss the future of the Indy GT scene. After a lot of discussion and some debate, we held a vote and agreed that in 2016 the Indy GTs will be running Kings of War instead of Warhammer 8th Edition or Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. I expect point values to be around 2000, but it may vary by GT. The first (Shiloh Slaughter) will be in Fayetteville in January, and the first Texas one will be Lone Wolf up in DFW the first weekend of April. Don’t hesitate to ask me if you have any questions!” – Ryan P. Smith, TO of the Alamo Gamers (Facebook)
We want to make sure that we do everything we can to support the running of events around the world, and we’ve been working with the Rules Committee to produce packs for you to run tournaments and campaigns, that includes guides of running events, prize support and promotional material.
Look out for more on this next week.
Dungeon Saga is very close to being in everyone’s hands.
The Return of Valandor will feature during Dungeon Saga launch week.
At the same time, the Dungeon Saga Kickstarter Dispatch is still ongoing and very near completion.
80% of the parcels going to the UK, Europe and the rest of the world are complete. There is a final boat which has arrived in the UK with extra Carton B and Black Fortress Tiles on, which will arrive in our warehouse next week. These will ship out immediately and complete the pledge dispatch from the UK.
Pledges to our US backers ship from our American hub in Chicago on Monday.
Pledges to our Australian and New Zealand backers are shipping from our OZ hub the following week.
All in all, all Kickstarter pledges are on track to be with backers by the 7th December. From then, we will ship all items listed as ‘To Follow’ on backer’s picking slips, including the Black Fortress Tiles, along with any replacement or missing items.
DreadBall Season Six recently hit shelves along with four new teams, rules for four DreadBall Giants, and a cast of new MVPs. This takes the total number of teams up to 25.
We have had a great time playing the game and trying out all the different combinations. We recently held the DreadBall Regional Final at Mantic HQ, and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to run leagues and events – and track who the best players in the world are!
Next week we’ll show you more on the DreadBall Rankings and Organised Play Kits that Pat and the studio have been working on.
The next few weeks are set to be maelstrom of hobby activity, with organized play for Kings of War and DreadBall, new websites, videos, articles and more – and that’s all with Uncharted Empires and Dungeon Saga hitting retail shelves.
Oo, and there’s a super secret playtest day taking place at Mantic HQ tomorrow… and the Open Day (which is sold out!) the following week.
