Questions & Answers
Q: Is this a limited edition product?
A: No, in fact it's actually the start of us re-organising our TerrainCrate range to make it easier to navigate! We're going to start grouping together all the products you need to build big gaming areas under a TerrainCrate: Battlefields sub-brand, which will make it incredibly easy to pull great-looking tables together - whether you're shopping online or in-store. Keep an eye out for that in the near future.
Q: So, if that's coming soon - what's this?
A: Well, we love our fantasy fans - and wanted to give you a chance to get in on this one a couple of months ahead of the main launch! So, our initial batch of these boxes are available early in special Kings of War packaging. But this early batch is limited, so jump on board quick as it's going to be a while before the main stock becomes available.
Q: What are the card buildings like?
A: Really nice, and of course we would say that! For a good reference point, we've had loads of great feedback on our Halo: Flashpoint card terrain, and now it's time to bring those new design skills into the fantasy genre. It's thick, sturdy, and pre-coloured, and means on-theme 3D buildings with no painting required! If you have space to leave it assembled (our recommendation for ease and a long life), you can use a little PVA glue on the contact points - even though a lot of the parts will hold together with friction alone.
Q: What are the hills made from?
These are made from vacuum-formed plastic. They've got a nice flat top for ease and practicality, and if you have multiple sets (tournament organisers - we're looking at you!) then the matching shapes will of course nest nicely together for compact storage.
Q: What else is cool about this set?
The included plastics (trees, walls, fences) are practically indestructible, as even if you bend them out of shape they can be bent back (or re-posed!) simply with a bit of hot water - just mind your fingers. They're cast in appropriate colours, but you can elevate them very quickly with the simplest of paint jobs - a base colour, quick wash and light drybrush will have them looking great in no time at all.
There are also the neoprene templates, which neatly solve things like the classic 'models in the woods' problem. If a unit moves into woodland cover, the 2D template shows whether they're in or out, and you can simply reposition the 3D trees around them as necessary - all without losing any of the tactical positioning/context, or drifting into the 'argument phase' with your gaming mates!
