Halo: Flashpoint – Year One & Beyond
22nd Dec 2025
Dan Mapleston

It’s already been twelve months since Halo: Flashpoint first landed in November 2024. And yet, looking back at how far the game has come, we also have to ask...has it really only been a year?
As the game launched, the energy was electric. We knew that players were ready for something special, a game that would capture the blistering speed and tactical grit of Halo. However, also a game without the hobby 'skill barrier' that stops so many from getting started on tabletop. Having solved that, we knew fans were ready to feel like fireteam commanders in the fantastic universe we know and love.
Launching a new game is always exciting. But seeing you all take command? Seeing those first painted fireteams and hearing your battle stories from around the globe? That’s when it really came alive.

So today, as we close out 2025 together, let's reflect on the first year of tabletop skirmish combat in the Halo Universe!
The Universe Comes Alive
When Halo: Flashpoint launched, the focus was Spartans versus Spartans in brutal training simulations that echoed the lethal pace of Halo Infinite's multiplayer carnage. It was fast, it was fun, it set the pace for things to come.
And, as we promised, this was just the start...

In no time at all, Halo: Flashpoint went beyond the starter set to flourish as a fully-fledged skirmish game that's now played around the world - a rich system full of choice, great minis, and tactical fun for all.
Let's relive some of the most exciting steps we've taken together in 2025:
SPRING - Advanced Warfare
With the first new releases after launch, you all moved beyond the basics and began crafting fireteams reflecting your own ideas and tactical playstyles. The War Games expansion burst onto the scene with list-building, and Master Chief joined the retail range to take charge of all those newly-trained Spartans!
SUMMER - The Enemy Arrives
Those Sangheili Elites in the Spartan Edition box were just the vanguard of what was coming. You stood your ground against (or decided to join!) the Banished when Warmaster Atriox and the Jiralhanae brutally charged into the game this summer. With this release Halo: Flashpoint suddenly took on an exciting new dimension with massively asymmetric factions, not to mention the excitement of those massive Brute 'miniatures' towering over everyone else.
AUTUMN - Pepare to Drop
Next, we all dropped into the smog of New Mombasa, bringing the heat before the winter chill set in. Can you hear that smooth jazz? The Orbital Drop Shock Troopers had arrived with a new arsenal of specialized weapons and equipment. They showed us the UNSC's special operations capability through the visors of 'regular humans', which brings an entirely new feel to combat compared to the enhanced Spartans or alien Banished.
And all the time, it's easy to forget that you haven't just been playing a game; you’ve been building a brilliant community that spans from local clubs to big events like Dreamhack Dallas in the US, and the front stage at SpartanFest 2025 in Mexico!

Pssst...This Sounds Great...But What If I'm Brand New?
If you're new to Halo: Flashpoint, then welcome on board - and let's rewind a little! There's a fantastic new starters guide right here that we heartily recommend checking out before diving into the rest of this blog.
