Kings of War 4th Edition: December Launch Update
19th Nov 2025
Dan Mapleston

Hello everyone,
4th Edition is nearly here and it's a very exciting time. With a wealth of rules, behind-the-scenes, and fiction blogs already live, some of the major Kings of War podcasts have also begun their own rounds of previews - so make sure to tune in to your favourite.
Following on from Matt's profile examples blog, they’ve been talking through how an example 4th Edition army list fits together so you can get an idea of what counts as core or support (etc), as well as offering an early look at the related faction Command Orders. If your faction wasn't one of the examples, don't worry - everything is coming both in print and on the Companion from launch, so you'll be able to get fully up to speed in no time.
N.B. If you're new to the world of Kings of War podcasts, you'll find them in the community section of the 4th Edition launch hub - with a couple more added last week.

Speaking of launch, it's still on for December, with rulebooks arriving from the printer at the end of November. We can now confirm that shipping begins from the following week, so you’ll be able to kick back and enjoy your hardback 4th Edition books over the holidays - and hopefully squeeze in some quality hobby time as well.
Then in January 2026, rules thoroughly read, and battalions ready to thrust into the crucible of battle, we all charge together into a bright new year of fantasy gaming.
But for now, let's talk miniatures...
Trident Realm - New Sprues First Look
Recently into Mantic HQ, we're excited to give you a first look at the new sprues to arrive for the Trident Realm.

First up, it's the Placoderms. You've seen them assembled in the image above (on the right hand side), but let's have a close zoom of the frame itself. We're extremely pleased with the quality and detail of these latest minis.

Excitingly, their arrival also means that the Trident Realm now have (1) Naiads, (2) Riverguard, (3) Dambusters, (4) Placoderms and (5) Depth Horrors ALL as hard plastic kits to build your army around.
Just as with the amphibian skin that Trident Realm players will have seen on last year's Dambusters kit, the new sprues been able to really capture a range of textures. Let's have a little look at some Depth Horrors...

There's plenty of detail here ready to really bring out and look outstanding even with simple techniques like a wash and drybrush. If you've ever wanted to count the scales on a Depth Horror...well...here's your chance!

So, with more and more exciting things pouring into the warehouse all the time, the beginning of 4th edition is feeling very close indeed.
If you haven't ordered your rulebook yet, or one of those special 4th Edition bundles - you've still got (just) enough time to do so before they ship.
And finally, please remember that the Grand Master bundle (above) will be removed from the webstore at the end of November so that Matt and Alessio can personally sign those hardback books before they get posted to you.
We hope you enjoyed this quick update, and we'll keep everyone updated via the Mantic newsletter and social media as 4th Edition shipping begins!
New blogs, videos and stories will be dropping regularly between now and the launch of 4th Edition in December 2025.
4th Edition Pre-Orders are now live and can be found HERE .
