On the 8th Day of Xmas: Deadzone in 2024

Happy New Year everyone,

At last – it’s time to turn to talk sci-fi! And let’s kick off with Deadzone, the much-loved, fast-paced and competitive skirmish game that’s now in it’s 3rd (and best-ever) edition.

What Happened in 2023?

In 2023, Deadzone kicked off the year with a brilliant new starter set (Fall of Omega VII) – which pitted the Asterians, commanded by Ota Sora, against the forces of the Plague. Top tip: the new Plague General and Ota Sora miniatures from this set are also available separately via Mantic Direct.

Then we saw some material upgrades (metal to resin) to a whole swathe of Forge Father units…plus brand new Valkyr bikes!

Then later in the year we rounded things off with brand new reinforcements for the Enforcers. This brought Novashock Peacekeepers, troops with phase claws, the Damantor Sniper Platform, and more units into the game.

Coming in 2024: Asterians

So here we go! We’re delighted to reveal that fans can expect brand-new hard plastic Asterian Cyphers. The current minis have been around for a long time, and it’s time to really give them an upgrade.

These will be made at the same awesome new standard as the very latest Kings of War plastic frames. If you’ve built any of the new hard plastic kits we released in 2023, then you know you’re in for an absolute treat. The Cyphers aren’t the only new kit either, but we have to save some surprises…

Coming in 2024: Matsudan

Just as exciting is the news that we will be introducing hard plastic Matsudan, who will be playable in Deadzone for the first time as their own fully-fledged faction. We can’t wait to really explore how Neo Matsudo goes to war!

The new units we’re working on will be in addition to the current resins, so there will be a whole range of tactical options available. Check out some of the concept art below as a sneak peek on where we’re looking to take everybody’s favourite sumo-space-lizards:

What About Firefight?

The new units will of course also be available to play in Firefight within the Asterian faction (who already make use of Matsudan auxiliaries).

But what’s the point of order in the galaxy without a new existential threat to upset the balance? Come back tomorrow to see what else is coming to the Warpath Universe. Let’s just say it’s going to be a spectacular summer of sci-fi!

If you’re a fantasy gamer who hasn’t tried out Deadzone or Firefight yet, 2024 is an excellent year to try out something fresh and new. For now, let’s put these awesome new kits into our timeline.
