Tabletop Gaming for Halloween

The nights are drawing in, your paints are taking longer to dry, and the house is making those odd creaking noises again...
That can only mean one thing, Halloween is almost upon us!

Whether you’re summoning terrifying creatures from the void, lighting candles for a Hellboy boss fight, or just looking for an excuse to get the red paint out, we’ve gathered some frightfully good picks from the Mantic webstore to help you get your gaming table in the spooky spirit this winter.
1) Hellboy: The Board Game
If there’s a single box that screams Halloween, it’s our long-running horror classic, Hellboy: The Board Game.
Team up with the BPRD, grab your dice, and descend into a world of occult horrors, ancient evils, and questionable survival choices.
The atmosphere really oozes from this one: dark corners, creepy miniatures, and tense looks across the table as your team of investigators decide what to do next...
It’s cooperative, cinematic, and ideal for moody, late-night sessions lit by flickering LED candles! For a gameplay preview, check out the below from Ash Barker at Guerilla Miniature Games:
Already Got It?
If you’ve already survived the core game’s supernatural showdowns, well done(!) - but now it’s clearly time to up the stakes.
Both Darkness Calls and The Conqueror Worm expansions pile on new BPRD cases, extra enemies, and even more moments of shouting “why DID you open that door?" across the table. (That's when you know that the story really has its claws in you!)
2) Hellboy: The Roleplaying Game
Want to dig even deeper into the dark corners of the Hellboy universe? Of course you do! Step beyond the board game and into full-blown investigation mode with Hellboy: The Roleplaying Game.
Powered by 5E rules and packed with supernatural flavour, the Hellboy RPG lets you and your friends create your own BPRD. agents, explore haunted sites, and tackle monsters that probably should have stayed buried...
It’s perfect for highly narrative RPG sessions with your gaming group: light some candles, cue up a moody soundtrack (bonus points if it's from the Hellboy movies!), and let your players unleash something ancient and terrible...in the best possible way of course.

Take your game further with 'Things That Went Bump In The Night', a new sourcebook for the Hellboy RPG from our friends at Nightfall Games, in collaboration with our own studio and Dark Horse:
The Kickstarter campaign is fully funded, with tons of stretch goals unlocked, and finishes...of course...on Halloween. Get in on this one now, while you can!
3) The Walking Dead: All Out War
It wouldn’t be Halloween without the wails of the undead echoing through the streets...or is that the trick-or-treaters?
Anyway, for the real deal, that’s where The Walking Dead: All Out War shuffles in!
This game has everything you want for a chilling night in: tense, cinematic skirmishes, brutal decisions, and (of course) hordes of hungry Walkers closing in from every direction.
There’s nothing quite like the mix of dread and laughter as someone’s last survivor makes a bad life choice, fires a shot…and draws every Walker on the board straight to their position...
Already Got It?
The Walking Dead is a big world, full of different survivor groups that may often be an even bigger threat than the Walkers themselves.

4) Kings of War: Nightstalkers
If you prefer your horror served on a larger scale, Kings of War is absolutely crawling with Halloween potential...if you know where to look!
If you're after something really twisted, you can't go wrong with...the Nightstalkers.
Covered in tentacles, too many teeth, yet somehow not enough eyes...the Nightstalkers are a crawling wall of terror that drags and scuttles it's way toward the enemy ranks.
A horde of these void-spawned creatures is a sight for mere mortals that's simultaneously incredible, impossible...and chillingly inevitable.
You can find their miniatures range HERE, all ready for 4th Edition Kings of War. (You'll find their updated list in the main rulebook).
5) TerrainCrate: Gothic Goodness
Nothing sets the tone like the right scenery.
TerrainCrate kits make it easy to build that perfect haunted setting for your roleplaying games, skirmish games and dungeon crawlers: a ruined graveyard, a fog-choked crypt, or a decaying mansion where nothing good ever happens after midnight.
As we all know, setting the scene and building worlds in miniature is a big part of the fun - and TerrainCrate continues to make it easier than ever to immerse your fellow players in a world and setting out of your dark, dark, imagination! Check out the modern/gothic range HERE.
And of course the pièce de résistance of the TerrainCrate gothic range is the Haunted Manor set - a whole box of spooky adventures waiting to be unleashed:
Final Thoughts
Whether you’re painting your very next Nightstalker regiment, braving a fearsomely gothic Hellboy boss, or just leaning into the season’s darker side, Halloween is the perfect excuse (not that we need one!) to explore the weird and scary side of tabletop gaming.
So grab your dice, dim the lights, and dial up the horror.
