Why I Need The New TerrainCrate3 In Firefight

30th Nov 2022

Jonny Mann

We know buildings and terrain are very important to Firefight. They are key to the game and what set it apart from other sci-fi wargames.

In this blog we’re going to explore some of the new items in the latest Kickstarter that no Firefight player will want to be without.

Templates:

Buildings of a war torn battlefield are not often fully intact and easy to make out the footprint of during game play.

In come the new neoprene templates!

Never again will you be unsure if your model (or your opponents) is in or out of a building or terrain feature with these great new neoprene templates! You can place your building on top and even if a side to the building has been blown apart, you can clearly see the footprint!

The same goes for wooded areas too thanks to these spectacular new alien forest templates. The Kickstarter is also host to an array of more fantasy based templates that can work well for Firefight too.

Battlefield Scatter Crate

An enemy unit can be seen so long as Line Of Sight is either Clear or Partially Blocked. When LOS is Partially Blocked, the enemy unit is often said to be ‘In Cover’. When shooting at an enemy ‘in cover’ the shooting unit suffers a -1 modifier, i.e. rather than need a 5+ to hit, your unit will need a 6+. So we all know that having plenty of cover is crucial in getting your troops up the field.

In the Battlefield Scatter Crate you will find lots of ruined sections of wall (both straight and corners) that meet the height 1 or height 2 required to hide your precious cannon fodder behind. They also interact perfectly with the templates to help define building edges.

Not only that but this crate also comes with a plethora of fantastic scatter items, from barrels and rubble to piles of skulls!

Xenos Crate

We have listened to feedback and one of the things that came up was people wanted more of the wonderful Xenos Add On set, so we’ve duobled the amount you get and made it into a 3rd Crate option.

The Xenos Crate is about as perfect as you could wish for, for Firefight, if you are looking for something that bit different that fits an alien planet and has plenty (we really do mean plenty) of wall sections to create fantastic and interesting gaming tables to battle over.

New Mats

TerrainCrate3 is also bringing some fantastic new neoprene mats! All three would fit the aesthetic of Firefight, be it an urban conflict zone, a more traditional battle ground or a far out alien world, we have it all!

Grim Battlefield

Fantastic Fantasy Mat

Other World Mat

All the gaming mats in the Kickstarter come in 6’x4′, 66″x44″, 4’x4′ and now 3’x3′, so you have plenty of options.

NOTE: The new mats and templates are an Add On so if the crates don’t take your fancy, you can still pick up these great additions in the Pledge Manager!

Trees!

Of course once you’ve picked up the incredibly useful forest templates your going to want to put some stunning new Alien plant life on them!

We have created a fantastic range of fungi like plants and jungle-esc trees to take your gaming table to the next level.

These trees come as multi-part sections that can be arranged in any multitude of ways. They now even have holes in which to insert a magnet so they can be reconfigured over and over again!

In these Crates you are not only getting excellent quality miniatures, but also getting STUNNING value for money. You’ll be getting almost 2kg of terrain for just £50/$60!!

And that’s before we take into account all the stretch goals we have already and will continue to unlock!
