Assassin’s Creed Animus – Watch It Played
31st Oct 2026
Dan Mapleston
Assassin's Creed Animus is finally here, so now you're wondering: how does it play? From tense multi-player rivalries to stealthy solo campaigns, members of the tabletop community have been putting the game through its paces.
This is a board game built for Assassin's Creed fans. It puts a real focus on asymmetric character abilities, and rewards players who can master them while balancing speed and precision in the pursuit of their targets. You'll also need to think on your feet, overcoming unpredictable twists and turns, and doing your best to synchronise with your chosen Assassin's memories!
While this might sound like a lot, you'll quickly see that the core rules are straightforward. Better still, a free interactive tutorial is coming soon from the team at Dized - stay tuned! Meanwhile, here are some playthrough videos so you can see Animus in action before you step into the simulation yourself...

OnTableTop - Multiplayer Gameplay
Let's start with an oldie but a goodie! Soon after the game's first announcement, we sat down with Gerry from OnTableTop with a prototype copy of the Standard Edition for a full playthrough. In this video you'll see Altair (Assassin's Creed), Ezio (Assassin's Creed II) and Connor (Assassin's Creed III) in action.
Watch this one for design insights and plenty of good-natured tabletop banter on top of seeing just how the game works.
Bald and Bored Games - Multiplayer Gameplay
The crew from Bald and Bored Games face off with the Collector's Edition of Assassin's Creed Animus - playing as Alexios (Assassin's Creed Odyssey), Connor (Assassin's Creed III) and Edward Kenway (Assassin's Creed Black Flag). Without spoiling anything, sometimes an ingenious stealthy plan comes together just right, and sometimes you have to acknowledge the part of outrageous good fortune in a narrow win...
MiniWorx - Single-Player Gameplay
Next, a big shout out to Matt over at MiniWorx, who's been showing off the game's solo mode. Get a feel for how single-player works in his video series below, featuring gameplay from three very different Assassin's Creed eras.
These videos are a great showcase of the asymmetric character abilities that make each Assassin feel unique. How will Matt fare solo in his adventures against the Templar Order and the Cult of Kosmos? You'll need to watch to find out!
