Big Teams & Big Games in Halo: Flashpoint

Go Big with the Noble Team Expansion

From the moment Halo: Flashpoint launched, we all loved the quick, sharp skirmishes that started playing out. And though we really love the current feel of the main game, sometimes you stop and think…“imagine this gameplay on a bigger battlefield”…

The Noble Team Expansion is where that idea finally becomes reality. This is the first box built specifically to support Big Team Battles using a double‑sized 16×8 layout. This gives room for more troops (or more legendary characters!), bigger strategic plans, and makes every game feel like a big event. If you’ve ever wanted to deploy a big team and let them stretch out properly across the table, then this is exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

Plus, we've got a brand new deluxe gaming mat for exactly this purpose - based on the blasted surface of Reach itself.

Big Team Battles: New Rules & Scenarios

Big Team Battles keep the fast pace of Flashpoint but with (surprise, surprise) bigger teams and bigger maps.

With more units and more space, you’ll find yourself spreading out, managing vulnerable fronts, and always planning a few activations ahead – while all being built on the classic gameplay you know and love.

The Noble Team Expansion includes three scenarios built for double mat format:

  • Big Team Strongholds – a wide area struggle to hold key zones spread across the board.
  • Big Team Extraction – chase moving objectives as they shift from hotspot to hotspot.
  • Big Team MAC Round Incoming – score strategic points under the looming threat of an orbital MAC round strike from a UNSC cruiser...

Their setup diagrams all feature the new larger maps, all ready for you to wreak havoc upon...

And also a new single mat scenario:

  • Big Team Invasion (Elimination) – a tense push deep into enemy territory to retrieve vital assets.

We can't wait to see you all sink your teeth into these new scenarios! Now, you see those little yellow icons on the above map? What could they be?

Well, movement is about to become a star of the show, thanks to UNSC Man Cannons, included with the Noble Team expansion.

These mighty machines propel your unit 8 cubes forward (yes, eight), so on a double mat they become crucial tools for both surprise assaults and rapid redeployment.

They’re enormous fun, flying through the air across the map feels incredibly like Halo, and we’ll be making use of them again in future scenarios.

Building Bigger & Better Boards

Here at HQ the arrival of these new Big Team Battles immediately led to a full double‑mat board build from Cleric. Let's hear from him about this incredible build, all achieved with existing plastic kits from the Mantic range!

Cleric: "This board was designed with Big Team Battles in mind, and I really wanted to build a board that was 100% made from Mantic tiles, even the floor! After throwing everything I owned together (which was modular bits from the TerrainCrate Modern, TerrainCrate Sci-Fi, and Halo terrain sets) I came up with a rough idea. I then simply went to town on buildings and let the inspiration flow as I built it.

The bridge section was my favourite, and an idea I've had for years to create a starship-esque corridor piece. This build let that happen, and the board looks brilliant once you put some minis on it. I won't win any awards for painting, but this was all achieved using masking tape, spray cans and a little sponge painting all over the board. I will come back to it and give it a glow up later, but it's already sorted for playing on - ready for some Big Team Battles!"

And if that sounds tempting, now really is the perfect moment to build your own larger board. Because with amazing timing (almost as if we planned it)...

SPRING SALE: Save 25% on TerrainCrate Modular Buildings

Currently on promotion in the spring sale, you can build up a collection of our modular sci-fi buildings to cover an incredible Halo double-board without breaking the bank!

Whether you prefer a clean UNSC outpost or something a bit more rough‑and‑ready, Big Team Battles will give you the perfect excuse to go bigger (or higher) than ever. We've also used a lot of this terrain in our trailers for the ODST launch, as well as Noble Team - because it's great for capturing the Halo 'look': futuristic, boxy, industrial and no-nonsense architecture.

There are pipes, landing pads, ruins, reinforced walls and more…all ready to be built into incredible futuristic structures like these below:

And Finally...

Lastly, we want to highlight a really cool double board based on the 'House of Reckoning' map that we've spotted out in the community, from the YouTube channel Forging Flashpoint - a great place to go for terrain inspiration. Check it out below - which is making great use of the same modular terrain tiles.
