Friday Pre-Orders: Halflings and Ogres March To Battle
20th Jun 2025
Dan Mapleston
There’s a fresh clash brewing on the battlefields of Kings of War: Champions, as two fan-favourite factions arrive to make their mark: the steadfast Halflings of the Shire, and the unstoppable Ogres of the Mammoth Steppe.
If you haven’t dipped into Champions yet, this is the perfect time. It’s a fast, skirmish-scale game built around smart decisions, big personalities, and compact objective-focused battles. Like these trusty Shire-folk about to steamroll their way into Grunk Blackclaw's goblin mob...
You don’t even need to build a massive army to play – just a handful of models, your faction deck, and a tactical mind. The last one's up to you (of course!), and you'll get a complete force and their cards in each faction box.
Could this be the most accessible fantasy rank-and-flank game ever? We certainly think so.
NEW: Taran Bligh & his Halfling Company
A born inventor, Taran could always be found tinkering with his latest creation. However, after spending a life making farming equipment like the steam- powered hammer or the mega juicer, Taran wants to follow in the footsteps of his idols Percival Arbuckle and Paddy Bobart. He wants to create something that will help protect the Shires and must now test the Iron Crusher in battle!
Taran's loyal companions bring more than just short legs and big appetites to the party. They’re a small but disciplined force – drilled in formation fighting, armed and armoured, and tougher than they look. They work best when they support each other, layering their abilities and moving with purpose.
Come on everyone - down tools, rev up the Iron Crusher, saddle the doggos, and get ready to defend the village!
NEW: Arokamorra & her Ogre Company
Arokamorra is angry. Angry that the so-called Noble Races chose to flood the Ogre Lands to stop the dreadful advance of the Abyss during the last great war. Now she roams the Mammoth Steppe and surrounding areas with her band of wayward ogres, eager to reclaim her former homelands and put an end to those foolish enough to try and invade.
Then there's her Ogre company. They're big, brutal, and loyal only to those who earn their respect. This is a group that hits hard and take a beating without slowing down. You won’t need to worry about subtlety with these lads – just get stuck in and let the fists do the talking. For newer players especially, they're not only a satisfying faction to play - a small number of big models with easy-to-paint surfaces makes them a really enjoyable hobby project.
Go large this summer with big warriors, a big chariot, big weapons, and a great...big...Crocodog!
