Introducing FIREFIGHT: Annihilation Games
11th Jul 2023

Yes everyone, Firefight is back with a BANG. New units, new miniatures, refined rules, re-balanced lists – and a heap of new terrain to fight over is all coming soon!
We’re pleased to reveal our new book: COMMAND PROTOCOLS. This will now be the Firefight equivalent of the content-packed Clash of Kings books we create for Kings of War: everything new in one place! And for the first one we wanted to make it something special.
If you’re an existing player – the book contains all of the new content, along with the latest tweaked rules, balance updates, and the army list for Mazon Labs in print for the first time.
If you’re a new player – the book contains everything you need, this is where you start your journey!
And on top of all of that we also have a whole new way to play: Annihilation games…
So what are Annihilation games?
Many of us have been waiting what feels like a lifetime for a truly brilliant sci-fi vehicle game – dreaming of air squadrons, tank battles, hovering drones and striding teams of walkers playing out epic battles from your favourite films or imagination. Well, now you can – in Firefight!
So how does it work? Firstly, you’ll build a new kind of force…
Force Organisation – Armoured Battlegroups
Force organisation is turned on its head when you’re building your Armoured Battlegroup:
- All units are either MECHANISED or NON-MECHANISED.
- You choose a COMMAND unit for your Armoured Battlegroup – it must be either MECHANISED, or start the game deployed in a transport vehicle.
- For every two MECHANISED units, you may unlock and take a NON-MECHANISED unit
- Any NON-MECHANISED units must start the game inside a transport, or be capable of aerial deployment.
And that’s it! You can apply this new structure across a range of game sizes and army points values. For an awesome experience we recommend a nice big table and all the tracks, stompy walkers, wheels and rotor blades that you can muster.
Annihilation – New Rules
There are three new rules to further flesh out vehicle combat in Annihilation games:
- Ad-Hoc Command Vehicles
- Vehicle Damage (engines or weaponry)
- Rear Damage
In true Mantic fashion, these are all very straightforward but add lots of flavour and interest to your vehicle battles!
Annihilation – Missions
And the flammable icing on this high-explosive cake is a collection of special missions, tailor-made for this new format. Conduct all-out warfare, armoured reconnaissance, stop sensitive hardware falling into enemy hands, go to the rescue of stranded vehicle crews and much more!
Sounds AMAZING – how do I get playing?
If you don’t have any Firefight vehicles yet, or want some new ones, we’ve got you covered! Our first wave of vehicle releases goes up for pre-order on Wednesday 12th July and will include some new sets full of options for the GCPS, Plague, Mazon Labs, Enforcers and Marauders.
If you’re a Veer-Myn, Forge Father or Asterian player – your reinforcements are on the way very soon!
