The Walking Dead – Singles and Events!

Saturday saw the return of ‘Organised Play’ for The Walking Dead: All Out War as 9 players took part in a 5 game tournament in Billinge.

Participants rotated around 5 unique scenarios during the course of the day, most of which where set up to represent a particular location or moment from the comic book story. ‘The Looting of Hilltop’ scenario saw survivors try to scavenge supplies from the burnt out remains of Hilltop. ‘Lines We Cross’ saw players try to sneak into enemy territory past Alpha’s line of severed heads!

Competition for 1st place was intense, with only 2 event points separating the top 3 positions. Tom Panah won the day with his prisoners faction who proved their versatility by winning each of the scenarios that they played. Ben Patey and Paul Preston also went unbeaten across the day, but Ben pipped Paul to 2nd place on Walker kills.

Sounds like a great event to spark off the scene again, which brings me to the next upcoming event: Conflict 2024

Conflict is returning to the world of the Walking Dead All Out War.  For those of you that are new to the game and for those ‘long standing survivors’ Conflict was an event ran by Community member Paul Preston.  It was the first ‘big’ all Out war event shortly after the game launched and led to the inspiration behind many of the other events that sprung up over the following years.  Conflict 2018 saw 28 players fight for survival over a day of 5 games that followed a narrative storey line.   The following year Conflict 2019 The Long Road saw 34 players follow the story Paul had created over a 2 day event.

2020 was a time we all really dug deep to support one another but this meant the planned Conflict 2020 No Mans Land could not go ahead.

That did not stop Paul and the team at Conflict Events as they pulled together a Solo campaign which was made available for everyone to download.  Aptly named ‘Conflict: Isolation’ this campaign focused on a players creating a custom character to use through a series of 5 challenging Solo games.

With the return of The Walking Dead All Out War it was only fitting that Conflict would return also.

When asked Paul said ‘The first Conflict Event was a great day and afterwards we definitely seen a massive increase in interactions with in the community. The hype for all out war was there.  It spawned some amazing events after that from Paul Wash and Daniel Meadows and also brought together the rules committee for all out war.  So Conflict in a small way is part of All Out War.  It would be wrong not to bring it back.  Seeing so many new faces in the game on its resurgence is definitely another motivator to give it another go. Plus it should go without saying it’s great opportunity to catch up with friends I’ve made over the years’

Mantic Games are happy to be hosting Conflict 2024 Uprising at Mantic HQ on July 27 2024 the home of all out war.  Tickets are limited on the day but the Mantic store will be open for people to pop in and see what’s going on.  Paul will have some of the custom scenarios set up for people to try out if they can’t play in the event.

As always the conflict ‘Swag bag’ is a must have  for attendees, Paul has worked with fellow community members to create some awesome tokens and some AOW essentials and goodies for fans.

The Conflict Events team have also worked hard on the scenarios being played on the day.  These scenarios are designed to be Player vs Player and pay homage to the world of the walking dead.
