"Oh how embarrassing! There they are! They were inside you the whole time. You did have guts. I've never been so wrong before in my life!"
Richard here from the walking dead rules committee. As the chair of the committee you could probably say I’m the Negan of the group with less baseball bat swinging. Still some swinging but slightly less.Eeny, Meeny, Miny, merit system…
Yes you heard that correctly. Negan is taking us to school and introducing a new merit system. There are several ways the Saviours around Negan can earn merit points but they can also lose merit points, which let’s be honest is not a wise choice when Lucille is about. However many merit points are earned in a turn are converted into red dice that can be added to any roll of their pleasing in the following turn. But make sure to use them or they are lost.
Just for because Negan can get a little... unhappy(?) if you have no merit points at the end of a turn to be able to turn into red dice then Negan will lash out and deal one white dice of damage to the closest Saviour because he can. For the gamers in this post apocalyptic world we play in, Negan has a brand new leader ability where he can deal damage to a Saviour in his killzone, which gains a blue dice worth of merit points which could be invaluable in the following turn if you’re wanting to add plenty of red dice to another saviours shooting or melee attack to score a vital kill.
This is not the only change as all the saviours from the original Here’s Negan game have had a revamp. My personal highlights are Tara being “light on her feet” she can sneak 5” and run 9” which is huge in game where getting to objectives is key. John being a “big bald motherf****r” is brilliant as it means he never panics for any reason at all. John also automatically passes a “hold your nerve” check. This gives you a real control over the games threat level.
Disfigured militia leader Dwight has the leader ability “militia tactics” where once per game he can roll a white dice and then distribute that many actions out across his saviours. Dropping this once per game ability needs to be done at the correct time to make sure you get the most out of it. Depending where in the timeline you are setting your games Dwight also has the ability to be led by Rick and if he is then any other saviours with less than 66pts can also become part of “Ricks Hat” group.
I won’t go into too much more depth about the new saviour models as I want you all to be as excited about the release as we are but I will say my favourite item of equipment is the infected hatchet for saviours only. Roll a ! When attacking with this weapon and your opponent is “bitten”.
That’s all for now survivors. We can’t wait to see all the new models out there in the walking dead universe being painted up.
Richard.
