The Walking Dead Wave Six Preview – All Out War Equipment

17th Mar 2020

Rob Burman

Welcome back Walking Dead fans to another Wave Six preview blog! After yesterday’s intro to what’s in Wave Six, today we’re delving into some of the cool equipment for All Out War you’ll find mixed into the various boosters. Tomorrow we’ll be looking at the upgrade cards for Call to Arms, as they’re slightly different.

Of course, we won’t be spoiling everything here so you’ll need to check the website listings when they go live to see what else is included.

MAGGIE, HILLTOP LEADER BOOSTER

Maggie comes with some fantastic weaponry to boost her fellow Hilltop survivors. There’s a decent selection of ranged and close combat items.

Our favourite has got to be the Blacksmith’s Hammer though – it’s almost like something you would see a dwarf wielding. Not only does this help to pack a punch in combat, the fact it can potentially destroy an opponent’s melee weapon is absolutely awesome. Take that Lucille!

JESUS BOOSTER

Jesus comes with three pieces of equipment, but we think the Binoculars could become a popular choice for other Survivors too. Firstly, it’s a relatively cheap item but with the right combination, it could be exceptionally powerful. Combine this with someone armed with a rifle, for example,  and you’ve got the potential to do some massive damage.

HEATH BOOSTER

If you’ve played All Out War, you’ll know that the ability to carry multiple items is absolutely vital – particularly when combined with a Runner. As such, the Knapsack isn’t necessarily the most exciting item at first glance… but it could become a crucial part of your strategy. Give this to a Survivor able to dash around the playing area and they can grab extra items and then potentially distribute them round the rest of your gang.

RICK, ALEXANDRIA LEADER BOOSTER

Again, another slightly weird item but one that has so much potential to be useful. Fed up with Walkers swarming towards your Survivors? Need to get them out of the way? Well, the music box is here to help, my friend. Potentially you could even drop this near the rival gang and then scarper, leaving the Walkers to shuffle towards your enemy each turn. We imagine the music box plays a really terrible version of Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus, just to really piss off the Walkers.

AARON & RICK BOOSTER

Arguably we’ve saved one of the most interesting until last. Although we haven’t produced a miniature of the ATV, you can still equip your Survivors with this new piece of equipment. Obviously, it’s super noisy (so great for potentially leading Walkers around the board) but it’s also good for carrying extra equipment and giving your Survivor a little more defence. Plus, if things get really bad, you can just jump off the ATV and suffer zero damage.

So, there you have our brief run down of some of the items you’ll find in the next wave. Of course, there are plenty more and you’ll find lots of cool stuff to add to your gang. Tomorrow we’ll be focusing on Call to Arms!

Remember, Wave Six of The Walking Dead (including the new show exclusive King Ezekiel) will be going up for pre-order on the Mantic website this Friday. Make sure you’re signed up to the Mantic newsletter to find out once it’s live.
