Halo: Flashpoint Special Issue Sets – What They Are & How to Get Them
9th Jul 2026
Dan Mapleston

At events, one of the Halo: Flashpoint questions that we get asked by new players browsing the range is: "What is a Special Issue set?"
Special Issue sets are where we showcase some of Halo's most legendary heroes, infamous villains, and cool or dynamic alt-pose squads in stunning MasterCraft™ Resin. They're designed to be centrepiece miniatures for painters, collectors and gamers alike, packed with the kind of details that make everyone want to lean in for a closer look.
They're also handled a little differently from the rest of the Halo: Flashpoint range, so this is a great opportunity to look at what makes them great, and how you can make sure you can make sure to pick up these special minis.
What Makes Special Issue Sets... Special?
MasterCraft™ Resin isn't the same material you may have encountered on regular resin miniatures. In fact it's a different beast with an incredible balance between detail, durability, and an easy-to-build experience.

Just check out the detail of Jun's sniper wargear. Or see just whose helmet is hanging from Hyperius' shoulder plate. Or take a closer look at Emile's visor, and all the crisp detail of the skull insignia that makes him instantly recognisable...

And then there are the details you might not even notice until you go looking for them. Take Buck and Dare. Actually go and fetch them. Grab a camera with a decent zoom, or perhaps a UNSC-approved microscope(!), and take a look at the upper plate on their chest armour...
"NO. WAY."
Yes way. Pretty incredible, right? We won't spoil that one for you here!
Anyway, these are exactly the sorts of little details that we know painters love finding and bringing to life, and that serious Halo fans are going to appreciate.
Quick Tips
Before you start assembling any resin miniatures, there are a couple of quick hobby tips worth remembering for a top notch result:
- Give the parts a gentle wash in warm, soapy water to ensure they are free of release agent, and allow to dry.
- Remove any 'feeds', small geometric shapes to clip off that aren't part of the model (this is where the resin enters the mould for each piece), before gluing or priming.
- Use superglue as opposed to plastic glue/polystyrene cement.
- In the occasional event that a part has become slightly bent in transit (such as a long gun barrel), they can be easily returned to their natural position with a brief dip in some hot water and simply holding in the desired position as they cool.
Important: Special Issue Availability
Because MasterCraft™ Resin uses a completely different production process and setup from the rest of the Halo: Flashpoint range, we're handling these boxed sets differently.
Each Special Issue set will receive its initial release as normal, and of course if you pre-ordered then you're guaranteed a copy. After that, all Special Issue production runs will be consolidated into an annual production window. So there will be future chances to pick things up, but you could be waiting a while!
Here's a quick update, correct at time of writing (9th July 2026).
Special Issue Character Expansions
- Buck & Dare - IN STOCK
- Noble Team - OUT OF STOCK, RETURNING 2027
- Spartan Killers - PRE-ORDER, LIMITED STOCK
Special Issue Fireteams
- Fireteam Phoenix - VERY LIMITED STOCK
- Fireteam Wolf - IN STOCK
Note that the Spartan Killers have been exceptionally popular so far, so we'd recommend reserving yours with a pre-order sooner rather than later.

What about the rest of the range?
Good question: basically nothing is changing for your core Halo: Flashpoint troops, which remain year-round retail sets except for small gaps between reprints. These essential units, both existing and new, will also continue to arrive in fantastic pre-assembled plastic, making it really easy to get minis on the table and expand your fireteams.
Wrapping Up
We'll make sure to let everyone know when the chance to pick up Special Issue sets for your collection is coming up/open: just make sure you're subscribed to the Mantic newsletter HERE: Newsletter Signup - Mantic Games.

As well as returning favourites each year, there will also be some very exciting new sets, and they'll continue to be something genuinely special for your collection!
