OGRE PAINTING GUIDE – by Kenn Strøh Mejer

7th Dec 2022

Martin Thirlwell

We have a special blog today courtesy of Kenn, who has put together a brilliant painting guide on how to paint the new Siege Breakers for the Kings of War Ogres.

We hope you find this guide not only informative and helpful but also very motivating and inspiring too!

The new Plastic Ogre kits are an absolute pleasure to paint and being Ogres you don't even have to paint that many!

You can find the guide in this handy PDF, making it easy to print if you prefer to follow guides like an IKEA instruction manual, minus the swearing and spare screws!

Siege Breakers Regiment

Siege breakers are ogres who specialise in breaking down castle gates – they carry hugely destructive hammers and protect their advance using giant tower shields. An ogre can only afford such tools if they are veterans of a mercenary company, as each set of armour, weapons and shield uses enough metal to armour a regiment of human knights. Warriors of such skill and wealth are rare, which is a relief to most human lords who hire or battle the ogres.

Ogre Warrior / Boomer Chariots Regiment

How can the irresistible charge of an ogre be made even more powerful? In answer, ogres have taken to using chariots of orcish make, either looted or bought from the orcs, together with herds of gores or mawbeasts to pull them. Organised in thundering squadrons, these very heavy chariots are easily capable of shattering the most well-drilled of battlelines

Ogre Standard Bearer

An ogre’s first loyalty is to their captain, but a close second, and who seems to get an unusual amount of protection on the battlefield, is the company paymaster. In charge of all the gold, weapons and food, it’s not hard to understand why.
