The Siege of Samarik: Part Two Begins!
Part One is done, but the battle is far from over.
For the last ten days, Kings of War players around the world have been fighting for the fate of Samarik, submitting their results and pushing the balance towards Samarik Stands or Samarik Falls.
Thank you to everyone who has taken part so far. Whether you’ve played just one battle, or spent both weekends fighting your way across Pannithor, every result counts.
Part Two begins today and runs until the end of Sunday 30th August. You have one more week to play games, submit results and help decide which outcome becomes part of the history of Pannithor.

'Samarik Stands' Holds the Advantage
At the end of Part One, the defenders have the upper hand.
Samarik Stands leads the campaign with approximately 55% of submitted results, against 45% for Samarik Falls.
On the battlefield, Basilea and its allies have fought desperately to contain the Abyssal assault. Salamanders and warriors of the Green Lady have joined the defence, while the Forces of the Abyss, Orcs and Ratkin continue to throw themselves into the battle.
The defenders of Samarik, led by Gnaeus Sallustis, are currently holding fast!
But nothing has been decided yet. For the defenders, this is the chance to turn an advantage into victory. For those fighting to see Samarik fall, there is still a week to overturn the result.
Read ‘The Forlorn and the Damned’
The campaign results are now feeding directly into the story. In The Forlorn and the Damned, our new Siege of Samarik fiction from Mark Barber, we see the consequences of the defenders’ success through Abyssal eyes.
See the fight from Teynne's perspective in the latest story from Mark.
Their attacks have been repulsed, warriors have been driven back through the portal and failure carries a heavy price in the Abyss. But fresh forces are gathering, and the battle for Samarik is not over yet.

If you want to find out how the battle for Samarik reached this point, Mark Barber’s new novel Blades of Samarik is available now from the Mantic webstore.
With Basilea divided, the Xirkaali advancing and a secret new threat emerging from the Abyss, Blades of Samarik follows Lord Paladin Orion and the forces drawn towards Samarik in the events leading directly into the current campaign.
New Rules for Part Two
To reflect the increasingly desperate fighting, we’ve added a new set of optional Battle Conditions and Army Modifiers for Part Two.
The new Battle Conditions escalate those introduced during Part One, bringing Celestial Intervention, Firestorms and Corpse Canons to your games.
We’re also giving each side a different optional Army Modifier based on the Part One standings.
For Kings of War:
- Players fighting for Samarik Falls gain Desperate Reinforcements, allowing them to bring an additional 10% of the agreed points value as they throw more troops into the struggle.
- Players fighting for Samarik Stands gain Hardened Veterans, representing troops who have survived the opening battles and emerged tougher and more experienced.
For Kings of War: Champions, Samarik Falls players receive additional Underdog Bonuses, while Samarik Stands players can give their Champion or one unit a randomly determined campaign upgrade.

Remember - all of these rules are completely optional, and aren't intended to be perfectly balanced! Regular games still count exactly as before, so use as much or as little of the additional campaign flavour as you and your opponent like.
The full rules for the Battle Conditions and Army Modifiers are available on the campaign website.
One Week Remains
The Siege of Samarik ends on Sunday 30th August.

If you haven’t joined the campaign yet, there is still time to get involved: choose whether you’re fighting for Samarik Stands or Samarik Falls, play a game of Kings of War, Kings of War: Champions or Armada, and submit your result through the campaign website.
